I'm a parent!

I came home to find that one of my little buttons hatched! Since nothing happened to the last batch, I didn't get my hopes up this time, but when I returned from school, lo and behold, there was a broken egg in the incubator. At first I couldn't find whatever came out and was worried someone else had touched my incubator, but then I found a dark brown speckled chick hiding behind the water bottles

I immediately turned the light on and filled the water/food containers (which I hadn't done before in case nothing hatched), and although one wasn't supposed to open the incubator so soon, it was partially open anyway (because otherwise it would be too hot), and I took the little bugger out. He/She is very energetic...

I sure hope he/she survives. I made some hard boiled eggs and mashed them to supplement protein/calcium.
